WELCOME to ACORN-NL’s blog. Visit often and find out what’s new and how the organic industry is growing in Newfoundland & Labrador.
New to ACORN-NL? Our membership is broad but we have one thing in common: a belief in seeing more locally grown or raised organic products in our fields and on our tables. We are experienced and aspiring farmers, apprentices, gardeners, consumers, retailers, food activists, researchers, students….
We began in April 2008 – a day-long workshop organized by ACORN drew over 60 people in St. John’s. Interest was high. The event a success. A working group was formed to keep the momentum going.
One of our first goals was to bring new entrants, experienced producers and apprentices to the ACORN Conference in March 2009. The group was successful: a contingent of 10 participated in what is the largest organic conference in Eastern Canada. There’ll be another blog entry on this later.
So stayed tune, leave a comment, share information, and while you’re browsing on the offerings, be sure to check out the mother site, ACORN, and find out what the ‘Voice of Organics in Atlantic Canada’ has to say.
