If you haven’t checked out the St. John’s Farmer’s Market (Lion’s Club, Bonaventure Rd) this summer – what are you waiting for? I popped in this past Saturday and discovered a festival-like place: free hoolahoop lessons; fresh organic produce; naturally-raised meat products; delicious cooked food and treats (mint truffle chocolate); inventive jewellry (recycled silverware); book stands, etc.

Of course, the organic offerings stand out in my mind. From the delicious garlic scapes and herbs from the Seed to Spoon Collective to the plethora of produce and exquisite edible flowers from The Organic Farm.

Speaking of… I also visited The Organic Farm (farm store is open Sat & Sun, 1-5), and was truly in awe of the gardens & greenhouses this year. Lush. Co-owner Mike Rabinowitz says they have never looked better. And they’ve been farming for 34 yrs. Go see for yourself!
