St. John’s, NL now has a Slow Food Chapter. And they’re planning a fall celebration Oct. 17th in the cellar of the Yellowbelly Brewery, Water St. 2-5pm.
Says Janet Harron “the event will focus on the fruits of our labour – the preserves, jams, and chutneys that Newfoundland is famous for. Please bring along samples of your own preserved food and be prepared to sample others.”
Award-winning Chef (and Slow Food St. John’s founder) Ivan Kyutukchiev will prepare tursija, a Bulgarian pickled vegetable delicacy. Guest speakers to be confirmed. Cash bar. The event is $5.
But wait! That’s not all. Slow Food St. John’s also has its own online presence: http://slowfoodstjohns.wordpress.com
So.. slow down this fall, and taste the fruit!
